1889, the world’s first glögg liqueur, is based on a generations old Swedish family recipe. 1889 is flavored with the purest natural and traditional botanicals, and uses spirits as a base instead of red wine. Delicious both cold and heated, 1889 is also used as an exciting drink component. The spicy and sweet notes of cardamom, cloves and cinnamon give a new depth to existing cocktails, and allow for new creative concoctions. 1889 blends equally well with a bourbon as it does a gin, or for the more adventurous, mixing with a bitter or rum offers a distinctive new taste.

Glögg has long been part of European holiday traditions. As always, a popular item goes by many names. Glögg is the Swedish version of the German glühwein, the Norwegian and Danish gløgg, the Finish glögi, the British Mulled Wine, and the French vin chaud.
Because of the botanicals included in glögg, it was traditionally considered a drink that would promote good health, cure muscle injuries, act as a digestive aid, and even offer protection from evil spirits! Although we cannot prove any such benefits, we do like to think that there are perks other than pure enjoyment that are associated with our glögg liqueur.
With the breakthrough development of Glögg liqueur, it is now possible to enjoy the flavors of glögg all year long. This liqueur uses only the traditional botanicals associated with glögg, but as the secret family recipe calls for, it uses distilled spirits as a base, rather than red wine. Not only does this give our glögg liqueur an additional kick, but it is now possible to use it to make both summer drinks and holiday cocktails – all with the promise of protection from evil spirits. Of course, you can also serve glögg liqueur heated and straight up for that traditional taste and experience. For more suggestions, please visit our recipe page.
We have established a fruitful collaboration with St. George Spirits, a fantastic artisan distillery in Alameda, California. St George produces and bottles our product for us, and our traditional family recipe is treated with the utmost care and attention. The product is carefully made in small batches in German copper pot stills to allow for maximum flavor retention and the use of the purest products possible.
The Geijer Glögg liqueur manufacturing process is a testament to the pure flavors that nature produces. No additives of any sort have been added to our drink. As a matter of fact, we use less than ten natural ingredients to create this wonderfully spiced liqueur.Sometimes the liqueur can show signs of clouding; this is perfectly normal and is a sign that no chemicals or preservatives have been used in production.
